2020-2021: Projector PSA Component Library & Research Plan

Background

As Projector PSA’s Senior UX Designer between 2021-2023 (acquired by BigTime Software in 2022), I was responsible for establishing an autonomous UX culture and creating many materials and guidelines to help keep the team of 3 designers organized and aligned. These materials included a Component Library and a Research Plan Template.

Developing a Component Library

The Component Library was a constantly evolving Figma file shared by design team members and frontend developers, that compiled key components and style guidelines used to design Projector PSA. It was often referenced amidst product development, linked in project management tickets, and required for usage by designers. All designers contributed to the function and design of elements in the component library, and feedback from frontend developers was always welcomed.

An example from the Component Library. Check out the Figma file for more.

Research Plan Template

I created the the Research Plan Template as a guide to help designers make decisions about UX research projects. The document included sections to consider when conducting UX research, and several links to resources to help generate ideas and inspiration in the process.

Results

Creating these two resources, as well as establishing a standard of design file organization and layout among my team, helped tremendously to streamline our design process. These materials also improved collaboration among the product team, frontend developers, and engineering team members because there was shared language and consensus about certain UX values.
